Over the past couple of weekends, we have been extremely busy! Between getting blog posts done, emails sent out, getting to doctors appointments, and driving back to our hometown the last couple weekends, I am pretty much worn out…but it’s all been good for us, to be around our family and friends.
I love writing these weekly recaps for y’all, as it almost feels like I’m writing in my diary about my day, which helps me to reflect on everything that has occurred, and most of the time makes me smile for sure. We started out early last weekend driving back up to the Toledo area. We were excited to see that there was a hot air balloon fair going on in Findlay. My family has always had a fascination with them.
Two weekends ago, Abe, his mom, and I had attended a family day picnic for his unit. It was a fun day full of food, and laughs. It was held at a new park right off the Maumee River (it really was the muddy Maumee this time of year), and it was neat to be able to walk out on the water and look at the boats that were docked there.
I’m secretly missing the clear waters of St. John…. 🙂
We also decided to have some Snapchat fun as we let our bellies rest!
We’ve been attempting to make some pretty big life decisions recently, and I was blessed enough to be around Abe as he made a life and career decision that weekend as well, as he extended with the Army. I couldn’t be more proud of him for doing what he loves to do.
I’ve also been thinking quite a lot about what it is I actually want to do. What is my purpose? I have always loved fashion, it’s just a part of me. But I also love being creative, and blogging does that for me. I really hope that I am able to pursue more with this blog, as it really is the one thing that’s been constant in my life this year, with all the changes going on around me. I love being able to put it all out there, and talking with you all is the best part of this journey.
But anyways, back to the fun! So fast-forward to this weekend, and we were able to surprise Abe’s family by coming home for the weekend. We were so happy that we made it for the Pemberville Free Fair. (Fun fact: I haven’t missed it in 8 years) 😉
We started off the festivities for the weekend by walking around the fair grounds, eating fair food, and enjoying the Vehicle Show that was going on. Oliver even joined in the fun! It’s so funny to me how many people stop us to tell us how beautiful he is. Ego-boost, much? Just kidding, he’s the cutest.
If you couldn’t already tell, we spent most of our time with the fair foodies–no shame.
The Pemberville Fair Parade is always a crowd drawing event. People from all around the area come to our town to enjoy the parade, which I have to say puts other cities in the area to shame. This year the fair lasted almost 2 hours in total, and included numerous high school bands from around the area, fair royalty, dancers, floats, and more!
My sister’s best friend came in 3rd place for the Fair Royalty contest, and we couldn’t have been more proud! We had planned on who was on picture, Snapchat, and video duty when we got to see her in the parade line-up. Congratulations again, you are beautiful!
While we had so much fun with our families over the weekend, we were happy to head home and so were the pups. Oliver was exhausted from all the fun, and being able to run around the backyard the entire weekend.
