Hello, hello everyone! I hope you had a great week– I know we did! Last week, was our fur baby’s birthday, and we were not going to let that go un-celebrated!
I cannot believe that our baby is already 2 years old! It feels like just yesterday we were driving him home, and couldn’t believe that we had been blessed with such a great pup. (For real though, he was so calm in the car, I was half worried!)
We were so excited to partner with one of our favorite brands and services that we have already been using for Oliver. If you’re a dog owner, and you haven’t yet checked out Chewy.com, you’re missing out! We are able to get anything we need for our pups (food, bowls, treats, shampoos–anything) within a day of ordering (seriously faster shipping that Amazon, am I right?)
As any good parents would, we threw Oliver a birthday party, complete with decorations, and of course, party hats! (This was probably the fourth hat…he shook off all of the other ones prior to this picture…) If you follow me on snapchat or Instagram stories, you probably saw the hilariousness that ensued with his birthday celebration 🙂
Oliver was so excited about his new treats, that we couldn’t keep him away while cooking his food that morning!
We made him the best breakfast for his day, which included some of his own dog food, scrambled eggs, Blue Buffalo Earth’s Essentials Cranberry Crunch and Blue Buffalo Health Bars baked with Bacon, Eggs, and Cheese! Needless to say, by the time we pulled this together, Oliver was SO ready for his special breakfast.
Ready, set, go….HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OLIVER! 🙂 He was so excited, he dug in and ate his special Blue Buffalo treats in what had to be under 5 minutes!
After our bellies were full from breakfast, we snuggled in for some quality time with both Abe and I watching some Netflix before getting along with some more fun! I don’t think they were too thrilled with all the pictures I was taking that day…Oh well!
When sitting down to write this post, it was hard for me to pick just a few photos. Truth be told, I have over 500 pictures of JUST Oliver on my phone. Yes, I know, I have a problem.
I’ve had plenty of dogs before Oliver with my family, and I honestly can’t say enough about our Oliver. He has been the biggest blessing. When we decided to take Oliver home, we knew it could be a challenge for the both of us, but this has definitely been a great experience having such a caring and gentle dog. It does help that he is so adorable!
Oliver loved this so much, that he wanted more of the Pup-Pie, but we only let him have 2 that day, as they are 100 calories a piece. But it didn’t take him long to finish the entire Birthday Pie over the next few days. 😉
And because it’s his birthday, who doesn’t get ice cream with their cake? We added another Blue Buffalo Health Bar to some dairy-free vanilla ice cream and he was in heaven!
He was so full of treats and yummy food, that we decided we would take him outside for some much needed exercise! I just love these two, Oliver just adores Abe so much.
In all, we had a great day! Oliver was so happy with all of his treats and toys that he received for his special day, that when we headed to bed both Oliver and Goldie both sat and stared at us like we were supposed to have something else for them, right? They had been so spoiled all day!
Oliver LOVED his birthday cake toy (that also plays the happy birthday song), by Multipet! Although it was quite funny watching him with it, as every time the song would start to play he would drop it and start whining because he wanted it to stop…poor thing! P.S. can you tell he had some fun with that toy, barely lasted a week with all of the fun he had with it and still going strong!
A couple days later, we were headed to our hometown, and Oliver is definitely on the anxious side if we are not here, even for the day. We were so glad that Chewy.com sent us the COSEQUIN Calm to try.
The morning before we left, we gave him 2 (they are small bone tablets) that he didn’t mind taking just like a treat! Normally, we would have to wrap up any medication in a piece of meat that we had on hand, but he took these with no issues–this was great!
We definitely noticed that he was able to calm down before we left. He would normally be barking at the neighbor’s dog, or at whoever was walking in front of our apartment, but he did not bark even once prior to us leaving for the day. He also usually starts to pace when he knows that we are getting ready to leave, and we found him just chilling in his kennel with his blanket–how neat!
I have to say, we were definitely skeptical to see if the COSEQUIN Calm would actually help Oliver to calm down and they definitely worked, with no harsh side effects. We will definitely be using these when we take him on road trips back home, or when there’s bad thunderstorms (he absolutely hates the sound of thunder).
If you have any questions about any of the products that we used for Oliver, please leave a comment below– I’d love to chat!
Our baby is TWO! Happy birthday, buddy! We love you more than anything!
